Certaldo is the real heart of Tuscany. It is a town steeped in age-old traditions, surrounded by green vineyards and olive groves. Its hills paint a beautiful Tuscan landscape just a short distance from Siena and Florence. Certaldo was a town of status during the Renaissance, being home to the Vicariate and the most important political and legal centre in the Valdelsa. Many of Certaldo’s finest buildings were built at this time, including the Palazzo Pretorio, the old town, the house of Giovanni Boccaccio and the stunning medieval Palazzi which still stand to this day.
