Palio of Siena

Date: Every year, on July 2 and August 16

It is a popular celebration, a cultural event, an equestrian tournament, and much more… Held in Piazza del Campo in Siena since 1644, it is the most thrilling and famous horse race in the world. The actual race lasts only a few minutes, but the days leading up to the event are packed with activities like parades, processions, dinners, race trials, and religious ceremonies… Siena is about a 35-minute drive from Hotel Certaldo and is also easily accessible by train.
